At 8:57 pm, Thursday 4th June, REALtong’s latest addition to its’fleet, a second BAeJ32, touched down at Fua’amotu airport.
The aircraft was ferried into Tonga,from NewZealand, crewed byReal Tonga’s Flight
Operations Manager, Captain Anthony Halliwell and REALtonga First Officer,Athol Isaac.
The Jetstream has been undergoing some major maintenance in New Zealand to prepare the aircraft for service and this has included the installation of some additional equipment that offers the aircraft regional capability.
REALtonga’s Chief Executive, TevitaPalu said tha the”…welcomed the arrival of the new aircraft, as it now provides additional capacity for the peak season that is just beginning. We will also now be able to provide more services per day which will improve and increase the options available to the travelling public.”He added that…”our team have completed all of the regulatory requirements for the aircraft in New Zealand, including de-registration and the re-registering of the aircraft under the Tongan registry as well as the issuance of the Certificate of Airworthiness and this allows us to get the aircraft working straight away.”
The new aircraft will commence commercial services for REALtonga on Saturday the 6th of June which will provide Real Tonga’s other J32 with an opportunity to undergo some maintenance work before both aircraft are scheduled to operate together for the busy season.
